007L: Based on a small late Roman jug in the Miho Museum, Japan. The surface is irridised due to over 1700 years of weathering.
Provenence unknown.

Jugs were a very common vessel type in the 3rd and 4th centuries AD, many being found as grave goods. The forms that we reproduce are most likely to have been made in the western empire, around Cologne and in Northern France.
