Pot Furnace Marver Photographs   Small Furnace Construction   Lehr Construction Photographs

A marver is an essential piece of equipment in the glassmaker's workshop, used for centering and shaping a gather of glass, and for picking up additional glass as decoration on a gather before blowing. On the pot furnace, we positioned the small marver to the side of the smaller gathering hole and the large table in front of the larger gathering hole. This table would be used for making fused and slumped bowls, and the photographs show the long-handled tool (our "Bat'lith"!), together with a ceramic batt, used for making these bowls.

Both marvers for the small furnace were positioned in front of the gathering holes. See this page for the small furnace marver photographs.
